Man-made materials such as steel, plastic, aluminium, reconstituted wood, etc., create carbon, the opposite of timber. Where possible please buy sustainable solid wood.

The environment story gets even better with Brett's tree root furniture being created from roots that are waste product salvaged after harvesting and prior to replanting new trees. Normally the roots would be burnt releasing the carbon back into the atmosphere.
