Annika Burman

Annika Burman is a jewellery designer and maker of finely crafted designs in precious metals. Previously living and working in London, Annika has now returned to Sweden, her country of birth. The road to jewellery began with textiles and tailoring alongside a general interest in all types of design. The passion for design is the main driving force in her jewellery making, the fascination with how even seemingly minor adjustments can totally change the overall look and feel of a piece. In addition to her design DNA - the result of her upbringing and Nordic roots - Annika takes her inspiration from such varied sources such as early 20th century art, music, graphics, the natural world, and the – often overlooked – simple elegance of many everyday objects and tools, to create contemporary jewellery which combine fluid shapes with a bit of attitude and sometimes a little cheekiness. The distinct designs evolve through the juxtaposing of contrasting elements and textures and by playing with scale and placement. 

The jewellery is created by fusing modern and traditional techniques. The pieces are then hand-finished for attention to detail and a quality that lasts. The jewellery is made from 18 karat gold, sterling silver, or gold-plated silver – also known as gold vermeil – and do in some cases incorporate gemstones and pearls.
