Kate Bajic

British jeweller Kate Bajic has over 14 years experience exhibiting and selling her work in galleries and at exhibitions throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. She lives and works in a rural village in the East Midlands, using the countryside around her as inspiration for her beautiful contemporary jewellery. Inspiration comes in particular from studying the varied colour, shapes and forms found in lichen.

Through photography, sample collection and research, Kate examines their minute complexity and hidden properties and functions, translating aspects of this into her work. Kate is keen to experiment with materials and processes when designing her jewellery, she handcrafts pieces using patinated steel or hand textured silver coated in gold vermeil.

Designs evolve through experimenting with layering, composition and playing with contrasting colours and forms. Kate can also be commissioned to work in gold. Each piece is designed to offer a tribute to the beauty and preciousness of the exquisite and diverse natural forms that inspired it.
