The Chatelaine Kerongsang Brooch is a classic piece of jewelry worn by Southeast Asian ladies as a fastener for their Kebaya blouses. My take on this traditional item updates the usual jardinaire motif with a trompe l’oeil set of buttons. Each button is hand hammered from brass and the top brooch is adorned with a sterling silver needle threaded through with a brass wire. All brass surfaces are electroplated in rich, buttery gold – including the handmade bar and loop chain.
