Kim Cook

Kim Cook is an award winning jewelry designer, fine artist and web designer who expresses her love of color through her work. As a fine artist, she has worked in a range of media from acrylic and watercolor, mixed media, to pen and ink illustration. Her themes include abstract art that focuses on color and texture expression; acrylic floral themes, and the occasional animal/character. Recently her work has leaned into Asian influences, inspired by Japanese and Chinese landscapes and inspirations from art masters such as Klimt, Monet, and Miro. Several pieces of her art work were published in 2019 in a women's anthology called "Blessed By Light: Works By Women For All"(edited by Elaine Brightman).

Born in Royal Oak, Michigan, her family moved to Florida at an early age. Kim attended the University of Georgia and Kennesaw State University with a major in art education1990-1993 with an emphasis in sculpture. In 1994, she enlisted in the US Air Force and worked as a computer specialist for almost 5 years. At the end of 1998, she moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to start her family. Kim’s love of creativity and the arts came back in her life in 2010 when she created her first jewelry line called Modern Naturals that ran until mid 2013.

Modern Naturals focused on handmade copper and leather jewelry with crystal and gemstone accents. In 2013, Kim took second place in the Fire Mountain Gems and Beads Contest in the Metal Jewelry category. Her work was published later that year in the catalog and the website. From 2014 to 2016 She explored abstract mixed media art by creating 24X24 wood panels and incorporating metal, paper, and fabric with acrylic paint. During this time, she was the vice president of the Artisan's Sanctuary, a non-profit artists cooperative. She showed her work frequently in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area.

Kim reunited with her high school sweetheart in 2019, who inspired her and she moved to Olive Branch, Mississippi. Now, under the business name Soulmates Art, she focuses mainly on one-of-a-kind polymer clay jewelry necklaces and earrings. Her current collection is inspired by Gustav Klimt's work.
