the chatelaine kerongsang brooch is a classic piece of jewelry worn by southeast asian ladies as a fastener for their kebaya blouses. my take on this traditional item updates the usual jardinaire motif with a trompe l'oeil set of buttons. 

each button is hand hammered from brass and the top brooch is adorned with a sterling silver needle threaded through with a brass wire. all brass surfaces are electroplated in rich, buttery gold - including the handmade bar and loop chain.
